Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three of the four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her final two events in 2025 because of a health issue she has been battling for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was due to play in Tokyo and Hong Kong but chose to travel back to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.

Her upcoming training are set to feature trainer Francisco Roig, as they have agreed to work together in 2026.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring while playing the initial match versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when losing 6-1 4-1 on an oppressively humid day.

Another medical visit was necessary a doctor's assessment at the Ningbo Open this week, where she lost in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the opening round.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the third set against Zhu because of back discomfort that has troubled her at times this year.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the world's top 30 for the first time for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in round three in last month's Beijing event.

She secured 28 matches in the current season and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

The British number one made the last eight of this WTA 1000 tournament, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament then falling in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She worked with Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in ahead of the US Open.

The initial agreement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was through the season's conclusion but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled late this year.

Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

The player was close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
