Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a National Guard member killed last week to visit the presidential home.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were ādeeply grievingā.
US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her comrade, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.
Gatherings across the state have occurred in their memory.
The president said heās discussed a visit to the White House for the parents of both members of the state Guard.
āI stated: āWhen youāre prepared, because thatās a tough thing, arrive at the White House. Weāre going to honor her,ā the president addressed reporters. āAnd in the same way with Andrew, no matter the outcome.ā
Mourners assembled over the weekend at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been working with the state guard as part of the presidentās government program to support public safety in Washington DC.
āSarah was the kind of student that teachers wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a contagious smile and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged people around her,ā the principal, the head of Beckstromās alma mater, stated to the Associated Press. āShe was caring, compassionate and always eager to assist people.ā
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Authorities have charged a 29-year-old suspect with one count of murder and two counts of violent assault while armed.
The incident caused the administration to pause refugee claims and halt granting visas to owners of travel documents.
The airman, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, per the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is āfighting for his lifeā, the stateās governor the governor mentioned on Fox News Channelās The Sunday Briefing.
The stateās top lawyer Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she planned to speak to Wolfeās family.
Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County High in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with honor, as stated by the West Virginia National Guard.
āShe had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,ā the governor told the crowd at the memorial. āThough her time lasted far too short, she has made an impact thatās going to last forever.ā
