Following a long period of speculation, the battle royale mode for Battlefield 6 is at last releasing. Last week's talk claiming its release would coincide with the new season were spot-on. Players can dive into the action starting tomorrow.
In tandem with the battle royale release, Season 1 is also starting. It introduces a brand-new arena, a fresh game type, and an expanded arsenal. On top of that, this new sector is making its debut. A featured trailer will become available at release, offering players a glimpse of what's to come.
Maybe the key news is that this new experience will be free-to-play. In the vein of other titles, you don't have to own the base game to participate. Some players have already tried pre-release builds of the mode. These playtests were run in a testing environment, which the developers described as their biggest fan involvement initiative.
The heart-pounding excitement when facing opposing teams is unmatched in other battle royale. It feels a true survival situation, and you actually care if you die or survive.
Even though I considered myself a skeptic beforehand, I'm now for the battle royale after playing it.
Such first reactions from testers have been overwhelmingly favorable. Naturally, the experience may have changed over the last few weeks in terms of tuning and tempo. But, initial indicators are strong that Redsec could become a true competitor to leading offerings. Players are wishing that the best guns from the original Battlefield 6 will carry over in the BR.
